Animal Babushka Dolls: Why I Love Them
Animal Babushka Dolls are consistently one of our bestselling ranges. They are the perfect gift for kids, collectors and animal lovers. Kids love playing with stackable dolls, and they also love animals. They are great for collectors because there is such a good range to choose from. But they are probably most popular with pet lovers who want to celebrate their love for their favorite dog or cat.
Animal Stacking Dolls: And Their Enduring Appeal
I was brought up on a pig and sheep farm as a child which gave me a wonderful childhood full of happy memories. We always had dogs: 1) Jack the sheep dog 2) Joe the terrier for rats 3) Flack the Alsatian Dog for security 4) Bess the spaniel and Jilly whippet as pets. They were quite a colorful crowd with very different personalities, but they were great for us kids. My parents stopped pig farming many years ago but mum loves having mementos in the kitchen. Therefore, I gave her a pig animal stacking doll which takes pride of place next to the oven.
Joe the Terrier
Joe the terrier was the smallest dog with the biggest personality. He was completely fearless and once took on a 500lb boar called Satan, which was a terrible idea. Fortunately, Satan didn’t take him too seriously and Dad rescued him before he met an unfortunate end. For reasons that none of us understood, he made it to the grand old age of 17 and led a great life.
How many types of Animal Babushka Dolls are there
Animal babushka dolls are available for a wide range of animals including dogs, cats, bears, tigers, pandas, frogs and many others besides. The dolls are authentic Russian dolls made from seasoned linden wood by skilled artisans near Moscow. They are made from linden wood because of its durable, yet easy to carve qualities. Typically, the tallest doll is 6 inches high and consists of 5 dolls, although this can vary. A decal transfer technique is used to apply the main artwork, sliding printed designs onto the wood before sealing them with non-toxic varnish. Artists then add hand‑paint the finer details and stamp the tallest doll as proof of authenticity. We also have a fantastic range of miniature animal stacking dolls which consist of 5 dolls and are just 1 inch tall. This range is especially popular with collectors.
Why do stackable dolls make great gifts
Animal babushka dolls have broad appeal to many people. They make a great addition to any room and offer something different from the norm. Mum loves her pig stacking doll because it amuses her, and it also reminds her of the very happy life that she led as a hard-working pig farmer. Therefore, a stackable doll can be the perfect gift for many people for multiple reasons.
